IN PICTURES; THE UNSAFE PRACTICE OF MOTORCYCLISTS IN AFRICA

Looking through the following pictures, one would wonder if bikes were built for the ruggedness and lawlessness they're being used for in Africa. As funny as these pictures might look to some people, they're the unsafe practice of riding motorbikes in Africa.
Let's get to see them.

Pix 1. This is as if the bike was built for animal haulage, but in reality, it's a catastrophe waiting to happen. An animal as big as a cow is tied and bundled in an uncomfortable manner is bound to struggle for comfortability, and that I bet, the rider can't handle.

Pix 2. Here comes another imminent danger lurking around the corner. Another style of carrying passengers, totally different from the popular straight line sitting arraignment bikes were built for. I call this a dangerous creativity by the rider. Two women, two kids and the rider in such dangerous sitting arraignment. You look at this and wonder if the Police or any Road Safety agency doesn't exist in this environment.

Pix 3. Once in every year children are celebrated all over the world. They are the future generation and leaders of tomorrow. African leaders should do more to protect the future of the continent. Children should be protected from this kind of danger on the road. Parents who allow an unsafe transportation that expose children to danger, should face the wrath of the law.

Pix 4. Going on a suicide mission.  Another animal haulage rider, the twin brother of the first pix. His brother was already on the mission while he is just setting out.

Pix 5. I think this guy doesn't know the gravity of what he was doing by using a head size plastic bucket instead of a safety crash helmet. He is not aware that riding without safety crash helmet is like riding without one's head.

All in all, this is a case of two wrongs, where government isn't doing enough on the issues of Road Safety, and Road users, on the other hand, are showing a I-don't-care attitude to the rules of the road. It's the government responsibility to checkmate the excesses of road users while the will to do the right thing lies on the part of road users too. Everybody should play his part to ensure that the issues of road lawlessness is eradicated in Africa.
